Do you have a roof terrace or garden and want to make the most of your outdoor space in complete peace and quiet, away from prying eyes? There are a number of ways in which you can relax in peace and quiet and feel like a cocoon by concealing the vis à vis. In this article, we’ll look at a few solutions for concealing your vis à vis.

The main reason is to enjoy your privacy – what could be more unpleasant than feeling watched by your neighbors? To enjoy maximum comfort in your outdoor space, and feel at ease. Hiding from your neighbours is also an aesthetic manoeuvre, as it adds an original atmosphere to create a real cocoon, cut off from the rest of the world.

There are a number of clever ways to hide the face-to-face:

Claustras: Claustras are openwork panels, generally made of wood, PVC or metal, used as outdoor decorative elements. They can be used alone or combined with other elements such as climbing plants. They’re an effective way of protecting your home from prying eyes.

Maintenance: Wooden cladding requires regular maintenance to prevent discoloration. A coat of protective varnish is recommended once a year.

Hedges: Hedges are horizontal plant structures most often used in gardens or parks. Made up of native plants and shrubs, they form a natural fence to protect you from neighbors. Hedges need regular maintenance, so you’ll need to trim them regularly. They can take on many different shapes and forms, providing shelter for small birds and insects.

Care: Prune hedges at least once a year to encourage uniform growth.

Fences: Fences are similar to hedges, but their composition is not the same. They can be made of wood, PVC, concrete or stone. They can be openwork or solid, which means they let in neither air nor light. They are practical for delimiting and securing the entrance to a property or delimiting a garden space, for example.

Maintenance: This will depend on the material. Wood requires a coat of exterior paint to protect it from the elements. PVC or metal can be cleaned with soapy water to remove dirt.

Shade sails: Shade sails are a solution for providing shade. Made from fabric, polyester or polyethylene, they are attached to anchor points for installation. Sails are generally quite large, which is why their use is recommended especially in large outdoor spaces. Their design can vary and will bring you a warm atmosphere.

Pergolas: The pergola is a small garden construction, often used on Parisian roof terraces, and is an excellent way of keeping cool during the heat of summer. It can be open, half-open, in aluminum or wood, and is an excellent shading solution. You can install climbing plants to add a shower of originality, greenery and coolness. Pergolas can also be used for other purposes, such as relaxing, reading a book or eating with the family.

Gabion walls: Gabion walls are structures made of stone cages, filled with stones, gravel or other rocks. They can be used to contain soil after earthworks, or to conceal the site opposite. They offer a raw, authentic look that blends in well with gardens or urban landscaping. They’re also a good way of protecting yourself from neighbors in an eco-responsible way. In fact, gabion walls can be made from recycled materials, which is better for the environment.

Planting vegetation: Planting vegetation is a simple way of protecting your garden from prying eyes. You’ll be able to create your own urban jungle. Bamboo, wisteria and oleander are just some of the plants that can inspire your design.

Cladding walls: Cladding walls offer reliable protection against the elements, providing a sturdy, durable barrier for your property. The variety of customization options is vast, and you can select from a wide range of colors and materials that will perfectly match your environment.
